Gastronomy in Marbella

Marbella is internationally known for its exclusivity, luxury, for its Beach clubs for golf and for their outstanding VIP developments. But do not forget one of the greatest treasures that this population, which together with other coastal municipalities Malaga, offers a fresh and healthy Mediterranean cuisine where the protagonist is the sea and its products.
Marbella also has the luck to have the mountain a few kilometers, and its cuisine also draws from a wide range of interior products.
Marbella enjoys mild temperatures year-round, but if one day the temperatures climb, there's nothing like a cold cream to counteract the effects of heat. Gazpacho, salmorejo or white garlic are ideal to enjoy in summer. Are also typical the 'salad malagueña' or pickled anchovies. Winter, if the body asks us something hot, nothing like a 'sopa campera'. This dish represents perfectly the symbiosis of sea and mountain: tomatoes, green asparagus, onions, garlic, peppers, hard bread, and seafood.

The town has a fishing port which ensures fresh fish every day. From the sea to the table. Nothing like enjoying fish at one of the many bars on the coast.
The star dish of sea cuisine is the grilled sardines. Apart from being a nutritionally rich dish, its preparation is a major tourist attraction, given the picturesque espetero near the boat and the coals where they are produced.
The 'fritura malagueña', usually composed of mackerel, mullet, octopus and squid, is another outstanding dishes, with seafood meals.
As mentioned, Marbella offers not only the cuisine of the sea. If you like meat, you can enjoy the typical oxtail 'a la rondeña', bathed in red wine or delicious cured ham in the drying of the Genal Valley, along with other meats from neighboring Serranía de Ronda.
Luckily, to pair these dishes, Marbella also has an exquisite selection of wines, many from the interior of the province, and more specifically of the mountainous, with many wineries offer high quality wines, apart from Manzanilla, the Moscatel or Pedro Ximenez.
Why not, Marbella also allow us tapas in the different 'tabernas' and restaurants. It is an inexpensive and fun way to enjoy variously all the advantages offered by the Marbella kitchen.
At pastry level we highlight the wine donuts, borrachuelos, the torrijas and churros.
Since Marbella is a cosmopolitan city and influenced by many national, we can also find the contrast with typical cuisine and visit the restaurants of Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Argentina, Thai, French or Swedish, in almost all regions of the world. Not only are traditional cuisine also nouvelle cuisine and fusion. As we see, Marbella offers variety and quality.
